Hendra Soetjahja has been in working in the financial technology industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining 401kid, he founded Kilohana Capital and Kilohana Technologies and was a founding partner at New York Capital Advisors – mainly responsible for the design and development of its Adaptive Quantitative investment process and technology infrastructure that utilizes Artificial Intelligence methodologies.
Hendra was also a principal member of a team that managed five equity funds with collective asset under management of about $3.8 billion at J. W. Seligman. These funds were run by a combination of Quantitative and Fundamental analysis. He was solely responsible for the design and implementation of its quantitative statistical arbitrage computing process from the ground up. Hendra’s active involvement in the financial industry began with his tenure at Morgan Stanley implementing Equity derivatives pricing and greeks computation used by all its Options traders globally in New York, London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. At the time, Morgan Stanley Equity Derivatives desk was ranked first globally.
Hendra honed his understanding in Fixed Income while at General Re Financial Products. He was a Vice President in the firm’s Research and Systems Group whose members are well-respected in Wall Street and had won numerous awards. He also worked in Foreign Exchange as Assistant Vice President at Deutsche Bank. At the time, Deutsche Bank’s Foreign Exchange division was also ranked first globally. Hendra then became Vice President at Bear Stearns mainly responsible for Foreign Exchange Derivatives’ pricing and risk management applications.
Hendra gained his experience in high-performance algorithms for the Supercomputer at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. Eventually, he was awarded Fellowship from IBM Research to pursue PhD program in any university of his choice, tuition, fees, and living expenses fully paid. The IBM PhD Fellowship is a competitive, worldwide program that is awarded to 2 fellows annually. Award recipients are selected based on their overall potential for research excellence.
Hendra earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Northeastern University with concentration in computer architecture and Digital Signal Processing. He was inducted into Eta Kappa Nu, the honor society of Electrical Engineers. He became a PhD candidate in Artificial Intelligence at Columbia University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters in Computer Science from Columbia as well.

Arman is a strong believer in ethical and Conscious business practice, which emanates in b.labs’ operating principles and his leadership values, which are expressed through his business and personal blogs. Of particular significance to Arman is the betterment of opportunity for children. He Founded 401kid, an education funding advisory portal, in 2000 to serve this purpose. Through his work-life balance, Arman is dedicated to setting a positive example for how we can have success while being of service.
Prior to founding 401kid and b.labs, Arman spent five years as Co-Founder and COO of Exeter Technologies, a New York based automotive electronics firm. Arman was a contributing inventor to several Exeter products and guided the launch of the popular Park Zone in 1998 by devising the marketing strategy, a training program, and an international sales force responsible for $7.5 million in sales over a two- year period. Park-Zone was sold in 1999 to publicly-held manufacturing company Measurement Specialties, Inc (AMEX: MSS)
Arman holds degrees in Economics-Political Science and Psychology from Columbia University, where he led the Men’ s Soccer Team to an Ivy League Championship and attained Academic All-Ivy Honors. Arman is an avid athlete, reader, writer and philosopher, avidly studying and researching issues related to wellness, productivity and Spirituality.
